Call before you dig

Planning to dig on the property around your business? Before you or your contractor start work, call Erie Thames Powerlines to assess your land to ensure you will not be digging in areas that hold underground power lines. Digging through power lines is extremely dangerous and can cause serious injuries. Please contact Erie Thames Powerlines' customer service department for assistance.

Please note that Erie Thames Powerlines is only checking  your land for the location of power lines

Contact your local telephone and cable provider, gas utility and municipality for assessments on the placement of telephone and cable lines, hydro cables, and gas and water pipes. Having your utilities thoroughly checked before you dig is the law under Section 228 of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Ensure the digging involved in your next project doesn't interfere with the supply of power to your business. Avoid inconveniences and delays by submitting your request at least 5 business days before beginning to dig or excavate on your property. Simply fill out our online Request for Locate form and submit it electronically to us. We'll take care of the rest of the details and arrange for the Erie Thames Powerlines crew to visit your property to locate your power lines. For a printable version of this form, which you can mail or bring in to our office, please download out PDF Request for Locate form.

If you have a power-related emergency please call us directly at (519) 485-1820.

Eco Living Tips

Load ‘em up!

You can save up to 10,000 liters of water each year.

Wash full loads in your dishwasher instead of half loads. Your water goes twice as far and you use half as much! Save more on water heating costs by using the short cycle or install a high-efficiency dishwasher.
