Distributed GenerationDistributed Generation uses smaller-scale power generation technologies to provide energy to an individual user. The user can sell excess energy back to the local distribution company, providing additional safe and clean energy to Ontario's already heavily used electricity grid. We're excited to come beside Distributed Generation users in the possibilities this technology presents. There are so many options for Alternative Energy Generation. Wind, solar, hydro-electric and bio gas — each has so much potential. Through our Net Metering programs, people who choose to participate in distributed generation can receive a financial return for the energy they supply to the grid. The Ontario Government also stands with us in supporting and encouraging the use of Distributed Generation, seeing it as a unique way to ensure that the power supply needs of people, businesses and industries in our province are met. Read through our information on the Government of Ontario's Standard Offer Program, which supports individuals who want to pursue Distributed Generation and feed back into the grid. You can also learn more about Distributed Generation by reading the Ontario Government's Guide to Connecting Distributed Generation Facilities and the Electrical Safety Authority's Distributed Generation Guidelines. |
